I am going to be honest here. Having three children, two in diapers and one attached to your hip, working full time, trying to keep up a house and laundry along with everything else makes it difficult if not impossible to find the time to clip coupons and search for the best prices on groceries. I have been there and done that. My kids are teens now but that comes with its own new challenges. So what do you do when you are in this situation and still need to save? For years I never clipped coupons and I still saved a bundle. How do you do that you ask? Simple. You shop and plan your meals based on what is on sale that week. You learn to stock up on the items you use all the time. If you have a large family, consider investing in a nice freezer to store your extra stuff. Sure, you can save more if you can clip coupons on top of that but lets be realistic, you are one person. Do what you can do. If you can do this, you can still be proud of yourself for getting great deals. As things calm down and the kids are in school, maybe then you start adding some more coupons in there. It is just not worth it to sweat the small stuff.
Pick the closest grocery stores you enjoy going to. For me the stores are Winn Dixie, Publix and Walmart. Winn Dixie ads go from Wednesday to Wednesday and Publix ads go from Thursday to Thursday.
Here are the simple rules to follow to save big.
1. Never shop without a list, never!
2. If possible shop without the kids.
3. Don't do all your shopping at one store.
4. Plan your meals around what is on sale.
By following these simple rules, you can see a significant savings in your grocery budget each month. I know shopping in more than one store may seem like it will take you longer but actually it does not. Think about how long you spend at the store, buying all the groceries and hardly being able to fit it all in one cart. When you have a list and specific items that you need, just buying them and getting out of the store does not take as long. So trust me, try it and see how much you can save.
Winn Dixie's current sale goes through today so if you want any of these sale items, you need to hurry.
Here are some great deals you don't want to miss.
Buy one get one free deals can be great if you can use two of the item. If not, consider shopping at Walmart to get the best price.
