Dance paradise for The Xbox 360 & Kinect-Great Family Game. Find out how to win a copy!

I was recently asked to try out Dance Paradise for Xbox 360 with Kinect and I was pretty excited about the opportunity.  When else would I be able to convince my three teenage boys to dance with Mom?  I mean really.  But honestly I can say we truly had a blast this weekend. Some of the kids more than others, but overall a very fun family activity.

Dance Paradise for Xbox 360 features 40 songs and music videos.  When I read through the titles of the songs, I was a little worried as I was not familiar with many of the artists.  I should not have been worried.  As a mom in her forties, there were plenty of songs that I knew that were remakes from the eighties and some songs I had heard recently while watching Glee like "Poker Face by Lady Gaga".  Other songs I really enjoyed dancing to were "Murder on the Dance Floor", "Celebration", Hey Baby" and "Walking on a Dream".

You can play in single or multiplayer mode.  We played in multiplayer mode and took turns on who would dance with who and what songs we would pick.  My oldest son Evan and I danced until we could hardly move, literally.  We sure had fun.  I can't help but thinking I was burning a good amount of calories and that this would be a great exercise routine for making sure you get your daily exercise.  Since I am dieting and trying to lose weight, anything that is fun and is exercise is awesome in my book.

I have to say the best part of the game is that there is this gumby style figure that you follow to know which dance moves to make.  Somehow because the figure is like gumby and does not have traditional facial and body features, I like it more.  It was easy to follow and more fun.  Even my kids said the same thing.  So that was a big plus for me.  It was a little confusing trying to pick the songs I wanted to play but normally my kids are the ones playing the Xbox 360 and not me so I am not super familiar with how the video games work.  But overall I was able to figure it out and as I used the game more, it became easier and more familiar to me.  I have to say this is not something I would have bought but now that I have the game I will certainly use it.  Probably will use it by myself while the kids are in school so I can get some exercise and then on the weekends when we have time for the family to get together.  I don't really see the boys playing this on their own but at a party or during our family time, this is definitely going to be a top choice.  When we played this as a family, we all had a great time.  It was fun and it was not too hard.  I also liked the fact that it was easy for all of us to play and that we did not have to be a pro at dancing or anything. None of us have great dancing skills so it was important for the game to be easy to do.  Important to note if you have a child with a disability like I do.  My autistic son Evan really loved this game.

So if you already have the Kinect sensor for the Xbox 360, then I would recommend you try out this game.  It is fun for the family and if you are trying to get some daily exercise, this is a great way to do it.  Just so you know, I did try some of the video games specifically for weight loss and exercise and honestly I did not enjoy them.  I guess this is fun just because it is not really an exercise plan.  And in my eyes I would rather have fun and not have to feel like I am forced to exercise.
