Fixed Route Bus Service in Charlotte County, Florida affecting Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Englewood

BUS SERVICE SURVEY FOR CHARLOTTE COUNTY

If you have been to a little piece of paradise called Charlotte County, Florida you will see that we have lots to offer.  We have beautiful beaches, lovely views and fantastic weather, restaurants, boating and fun.  What we don't have is fixed route bus service.  

Proposed is an opportunity to offer four fixed bus service routes through Charlotte County that would connect to Fort Myers bus transit and Sarasota bus transit.  This would mean you could travel from Charlotte County, connect to Fort Myers and visit beautiful beaches, shopping or schools like Florida Gulf Coast University.  You could also connect in Charlotte County to Sarasota bus transit in North Port and get to beautiful Sarasota amenities.

Fixed bus service is long overdue in Charlotte County, Florida.  If you are a resident of Charlotte County, Florida we need your input!!!!  PLEASE, take the time to complete this survey and let your county commissioners know how important fixed route bus service is to you.

Even if you feel you would not currently use the service, think ahead to family or friends who might prefer not to drive.  Think about our disabled population some who could have a better quality of life with a fixed route bus service.  You might think that Dial A Ride is sufficient for the disabled population but you would be wrong.  It is difficult to plan three days in advance to schedule this and demand is high meaning you might not be able to get Dial A Ride at all.  A fixed option is a great choice for individuals who need to count on a regular source of transportation.  My 21 year old autistic son can follow a schedule like nobody's business.  I pray for the day when he can go where he wants with public transportation without us feeling like we are forced to move out of Charlotte County just for bus service.  We love Charlotte County, we just want fixed route bus service too!
