Affordable ways to enjoy summer with the kids

Posted by Lyn at 12:39 AM
Almost everyone I know is struggling in the current economy.  What is a family to do with the kids off for the summer and not a ton of money?  Lots.  You heard me.  There are lots of things to do for little money.

Here are a few of my favorites;

Get a family pass at your local museum that participates in the ASTC Passport program.  This gives you the opportunity to get in free at over 290 science museums.  The family pass at our local museum is only $30 a year.  Charlotte Counny Historical Museum Charlotte Harbor, FL.

Kids can bowl 2 games for free every day this summer with the Kids Bowl Free program..  Get a family pass for the rest of the family for only $25!  See if your local bowling alley is participating.

FREE family film festival by Regal Cinemas.  Depending on your location, free movies are available Tuesdays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays at 10am.  Enjoy a free movie with the kids!

For my local readers, don't miss out on the Cinema Under The Stars at Gulf Coast Town Center Mall in Fort Myers, FL.  Every Tuesday through June, July and August, enjoy a free movie under the stars starting at 8:30pm and lots of deals on food and drinks.

They also have a weekend concert series every Saturday night in June & July.  Click here for details on the Gulf Coast Town Center schedule.

Be sure to check out your local library for fun things to do.

Please share any fun affordable ideas or suggestions you have for the summer.
