STARTING OUT--STEP ONE IN MY HOME CLEANING ADVENTURE

I read the first pages of The House That Cleans Itself: Creative Solutions for a Clean and Orderly House in Less Time Than You Can ImagineThe House That Cleans Itself with much anticipation.  I could not quite figure out how a house could possibly clean itself and have been very interested to see if it is actually possible.  Not that some people will have a cleaner house because of this, but will I?  I mean, I have been a fairly messy person all my 44 years of life.  All this time I have not been able to figure out how to have a really clean home, so how can one book really make the difference?  Am I a hopeless case?  Well, lets see...

Right now I am on step 1.  Right away I could feel that this book was offering me something different.  The author is not asking me to change.  Basically she says if you could change and become a pro at cleaning  you would have done it already.  Well, she is right.  I can't even count how many times I have tried to organize and keep my house tidy just to have it go back to its messy ways.  The author, Mindy Starns Clark, calls the program the HTCI program.  You are supposed to get a colorful notebook and write HTCI on the front.  Then you are supposed to draw a picture of your house including the outside and your driveway and even your cars.  She says did you actually think your cars would be exempt from the HTCI program?  From this drawing, you are going to create a flow pattern to find out how your house flows.

This is actually starting to make sense to me.  Not everyone is gifted at cleaning.  That certainly is not my forte.  But, it has to be done.  So what is the most efficient way to make your house work so you create less clutter and mess?  Right now I have asked my wonderful hubby to sketch out the layout of our home and then together we will create our current flow in the home.  Looks like I have homework to do.  I will let you know how it goes.  Wish me luck!
