GENERAL MILLS REVIEW--TOTAL W/ CRANBERRIES--YUM & $1 OFF PRINTABLE CEREAL COUPON!
Myblogspark and General Mills were nice enough to send us coupons to try out some of the great General Mills Cereals. As a mom who has three teenage boys who try to eat entirely too much sugar, I am always looking for ways to cut that extra sugar out of their diet. So, it was great to hear that General Mills was cutting the amount of sugar in their products to single digit grams on the cereals marketed to kids 12 and under. They were already using whole grains and adding calcium and vitamin D.
I have to tell you my husband is in love with Total with cranberries! He raves that the cereal stays crunchy even though it is soaked in milk for a while. Anyway, he says it is the best. And, for me, I am just thrilled that he is eating a healthy breakfast. I was impressed when I read the side of the box and found out that it had significant fiber which is something he was lacking. If I can get hubby eating a healthy breakfast, it is much easier to get the boys to follow suit.
Of course eating a healthy breakfast is good for your metabolism and helps the kids do better in school. There was a 1998 study that children who eat breakfast tend to do better in school. Children who eat breakfast score better on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer discipline problems and make fewer trips to the office. Plus if your kids have schedules like mine, sometimes they don't get to eat lunch til 1:30 pm. Considering they are leaving for school before 7am, that is a long time to go even with a full breakfast. So, skipping breakfast would make for a very long and hungry day. It is so easy to have a quick bowl of cereal and some fruit or fruit juice. Andrew and I absolutely love General Mills Cheerios. Not only do we eat them for breakfast, sometimes we eat them for an afternoon snack. :-) I know there are lots of new kinds of Cheerios, but we love the original ones in the yellow box. They are just so good and healthy. Plus they are low in sugar. And, what can I say but yum.....

This review is my opinion only. I received 4 coupons for cereal from General Mills and My blogspark.
