GREAT PUBLIX SHOPPING TRIP! SPENT $60.27 FOR OVER $200 IN GROCERIES!!

Posted by Lyn at 10:36 PM

I just got back from our latest shopping trip at Publix.  For a brief moment, I was actually a little embarassed to give the cashier the pile of coupons I had.  Of course, once I had my receipt in hand showing I had saved a total of $141.83, any embarassment I felt quickly turned to a great sense of accomplishment.  For years I have always shopped around the sales and at multiple stores and thought I was a pretty savvy shopper.  But, today, in addition to that I had $74.49 in coupons.  With $74.49 my hubby and I could go out to lunch 3 or 4 times or we could go on  a mini shopping spree to Macy's.  I mean the possibilities are endless. Depositing in the bank and saving it is another way to go.  Whatever I do, at least now I have options, and, so can you.

Overwhelmed and not so sure you want to spend all day clipping coupons?  Make a concerted effort to save just a little.  I swear it is addicting.  Plan your meals around the sales flyer.  Make sure you have a list before you leave and put whatever coupons you have managed to print online in an envelope so you can quickly grab just the coupons you need.  If you have a Publix nearby, you can make a quick trip online, print your coupons and save some big bucks at the store.  Can't get much easier than that.  You can even start searching for coupons on ebay. I bought a whole bunch of coupons for $1.  That is where I found the Perdue coupons-2 were from my paper, the rest I paid someone to find and clip them for me.  I will glady pay for that!  Take 30 minutes and save some major cash.  Don't get the local newspaper?  Now is the time to sign up.  You can't afford NOT to get the paper.  I save way more than I pay a month for the paper.  Start small and you will see it is completely addicting.  Once you see what you can save, there is no stopping you.

I once heard someone say they could not save with coupons because they eat healthy and nothing healthy is on sale.  Not quite true.  In my most recent quest to keep the family healthy, I am cutting out all of the high fructose corn syrup from our diet.  I was flipping through the channels and happened upon the 700 club.  Pat Robertson was talking about high fructose corn syrup and how it is so bad for your body.  Basically the gist of it was that the high fructose corn syrup takes longer to break down than sugar and makes it more difficult for your body to burn it.  Apparently manufacturers like it because products can have a longer shelf life.  Well, that was it.  I had been hearing things for a while about this but somehow this just made sense to me.  Have you ever had a moment like that?  It was like God wanted me to hear that right then and I just happened to flip on the channel at the perfect time.  Anyway I was able to do my grocery shopping with pretty much avoiding high fructose corn syrup.  It is just shocking to me that breads and tomato soup and crackers can all have this.  I would be happy to do a review of any grocery items that do not have high fructose corn syrup.  Just email me!

I found another great deal on the refrigerated Perdue chicken on sale BOGO.  On the package is a $5 mail in rebate when you purchase a package of Perdue chicken and the Transformers revenge of the fallen DVD.  CVS was out of the movie when I tried to buy it last week but Walmart has it on sale for $13.86 on Walmart.com.  At my local Walmart store it is much more.  After the rebate, you can get the movie for only $8.86!!

If you are looking for the deal on General Mills cereals, pick up this weeks flyer when you are at the store.  A $4 coupon is included.  Print additional coupons for cereal and you are looking at a best possible scenario of $2 for 4 boxes of cereal.  That works out to 50 cents a box.  Not too bad!

Okay, I will get off my soap box.  :-) Don't forget to click on the PRINT to get your own coupons for your shopping trip!  Once done, click on your back browser 2 to 3 times, most often you can print a second coupon.  You can also print another set of coupons if you have access to another computer.
